Terms of service
Effective March 23, 2026. These terms govern your use of the Condense web application ("Condense", "the Service", "we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Who you are contracting with
The party responsible for a given deployment is whoever operates that instance (the "Operator"). If you use Condense on someone else's infrastructure, their policies and support channels may apply in addition to these terms.
This deployment does not publish a contact email in configuration. If Condense was provided by an organization, use their published support channel.
The Service
Condense provides tools to sync read-only YouTube subscription data, show a feed of videos from channels you mark as important, retrieve caption transcripts where available, and generate AI-assisted summaries and timestamped highlights intended to reflect those captions. Features depend on third parties (Google/YouTube, hosting, AI providers, and optional transcript or payment services) and may change as the product evolves.
Eligibility
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live and, if applicable, meet any minimum age required to use YouTube and Google sign-in in your region. If you use the Service on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
Accounts and security
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping credentials confidential. Notify the Operator promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that appear compromised or that violate these terms.
Google, YouTube, and third-party content
Your use of Google sign-in and YouTube data is also subject to Google's terms and policies. Condense requests read-only YouTube access to subscriptions and related metadata; it does not post on your behalf. We do not control YouTube availability, embed permissions, captions, or takedowns. Video content remains owned by its licensors; Condense does not claim ownership of underlying videos.
AI-generated output
Summaries and "moments" are produced automatically from transcripts and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. They are for your convenience only and are not professional, financial, legal, medical, or other specialized advice. You are responsible for how you rely on or share AI output. Always verify important information against the source video.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service unlawfully or to infringe others' intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
- Attempt to probe, scrape, overload, or break the Service or other users' accounts except through interfaces we intentionally provide.
- Circumvent usage limits, billing, or access controls, or resell access without permission from the Operator.
- Share public links to summaries in a way that violates applicable law or the rights of content owners.
Your settings and share links
You may provide focus instructions, organize channel lists, and create share links. You retain ownership of your original text and configuration choices. You grant the Operator a limited license to host, process, and display that information solely to run the Service—including generating and serving shared summaries to people who have the link.
Fees and usage limits
Paid plans, where offered, are billed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges according to the plan and billing interval shown at checkout until you cancel. Taxes may apply. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through the billing portal linked from in-app settings (which opens Stripe's customer billing experience).
Free and paid tiers may include daily or other usage limits enforced in the application. We may adjust limits or pricing with reasonable notice where required by law.
Our rights
The Condense name, branding, and the software and documentation that implement the Service are protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not grant you rights to our trademarks or to copy the Service except as allowed by applicable law or separate open-source licenses that apply to the codebase you obtained.
Disclaimer
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION, THAT TRANSCRIPTS OR SUMMARIES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR EVERY VIDEO, OR THAT OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100), EXCEPT WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW (FOR EXAMPLE, GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT).
Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify the Operator and its affiliates, contractors, and personnel against third-party claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your violation of these terms or applicable law.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, including for breach of these terms, legal requirements, or operational reasons. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnity) will survive termination.
Changes
We may update these terms; we will post the revised version with a new effective date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance. If a change is material and we are required to notify you under applicable law, we will do so in a reasonable way for this product (for example, a notice in the app or by email if we have your address).
General
These terms are the entire agreement between you and the Operator regarding the Service and supersede prior oral or written understandings on the same subject. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Governing law and disputes
Unless mandatory local law requires otherwise, these terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in that jurisdiction (or another forum the Operator designates in writing for your deployment) have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
